Dhanamanjuri University
Dhanamanjuri University (DM University) has come into existence during the current year under “ The Dhanamanjuri University Act, 2017 “ which came into force on the 6th of April,2018 through a notification in Manipur Gazette published by the Department of Higher and Technical Education, Government of Manipur. “The Dhanamanjuri University Bill, 2017 was passed on the floor of Manipur Legislative Assembly on 3rd August, 2017. The University was established under the National Scheme of Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA).
Manipur International University
Manipur International University (MIU) has gained notable recognition for its commitment to excellence in academics, innovation, and quality higher education. The university was established under the provisions of the Manipur International University Act, 2018, enacted by the Government of Manipur. MIU is recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC) under Sections 2(f) and 22 of the UGC Act, 1956, and is empowered to confer degrees. The university has also been acknowledged as an “International Institution of Excellence,” an “Institution of State Importance,” and a “State Research Institute,” reflecting its growing contribution towards higher education, research, and academic advancement.
Kamakhya Pemton College
Kamakhya Pemton College is a promising co-educational premier institution located at Hiyangthang in Imphal West district of Manipur. The college has an area covering of 8.74 acres under CS. Dag No.2208 of Village No.106, Hiyangthang. The college was established in the year 1981with the dedicated effort of local educationists and social workers for imparting knowledge of higher education to the students specially in the rural areas which had been lagging behind for the past few decades. The college is a multi-disciplinary institute offering undergraduate programs in B.A., B.Sc. and vocational courses. Affiliated to Manipur University, Canchipur, Kamakhya Pemton College attained recognition of college under section 2(f) and 12(b) of the UGC Act, 1956 on 31-01-2005. After having received lump-sum grants since 2001-02, the college has recently become full-fledged grant-in-aid college under Manipur state government with effect from the 25th October 2021.
Department of Information Technology
The Department of Information Technology, Government of Manipur was bifurcated from the erstwhile Department of Science & Technology and Information Technology, Government of Manipur during September, 2009. The IT Department, Manipur is presently functioning under the Administrative control of the Secretary (IT), Government of Manipur. The Information Technology Department is located at 4th floor, Western Block, New Secretariat, Imphal West. The IT Department is responsible for implementing all IT related Project/Schemes, including e-Governance in the State. The Department has been acting as the State Nodal Department in respect of al National e-Governance Plan (NeGP) Projects.
Planning Department
Planning Department, Government of Manipur serves as the nodal department for coordinating and overseeing development activities across the state. The department plays a crucial role in the formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation of developmental plans and policies aimed at achieving balanced and sustainable socio-economic growth in Manipur. It also acts as the State’s liaison department with national agencies and ministries, including the erstwhile Planning Commission, the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER), and other central government bodies for planning, funding, and development coordination. Through strategic planning and policy support, the department contributes significantly towards infrastructure development, innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive growth in the state.
